Squads, Not Screens
SparkChange: Town Hall for Y'all
Planned and implemented one-hour focus groups for 28 teen girls to discuss advocacy topics for a daylong symposium at a local Huston-Tillotson University. Co-led a Town Hall with elected officials to empower 30+ teens!

Workshops
Bias Busters train 200 students (and counting!) on identifying algorithmic biases that pull isolated teens into extremist rabbit holes in YouTube, enabled by lack of community and empathy in their real lives.

Community Restoration
In the upcoming 2025 school year, the Bias Busters intend on selecting 6+ clubs across 4 different campuses to provide marketing materials and materials for ample club function! With the help of our grant, we will host several school spirit events.

Changemakers
Annika Singh and Zoe Moreno win a $5000 grant from the National YMCA Changemakers Competition to fulfill Bias Busters' objectives of restoring community connections, providing empathy + extremism workshops to 1000+ kids, and acting with integrity, proficiency, and hope.

Writing
Winning essay describing the link between a lack of community and school spirit and poor teen mental health, calling for better systems to help teens socialize offline was published by the IDRA. Provides research warranting Bias Buster goals!

Mission
Humanizing your peers, having empathy, and channeling media literacy. The Bias Busters' mission is to educate teens, rehabilitate community, and evaluate our progress.
